Rev Up the Bus -- Someone's Going Under It

With the accurate accounts of what really transpired in Benghazi on 9/11/12 coming from anonymous State Department staffers not authorized to speak, it's worth wondering what's really going on.

Are these people who are disgusted at both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, seeking to set the record straight?  Are they Hillary Clinton loyalists, trying to get the story out from State in a way that will best preserve her reputation and future ambitions (if any)?  Who knows?

As I noted back on September 24, Obama-Clinton relations may be getting very interesting. To the extent that someone has to be held responsible for the Benghazi debacle, Obama would love to off-load blame to the Secretary of State.  Given that it's Hillary Clinton, however, who (with her husband) has a distinct constituency Obama needs in 27 days, that's not possible.  Nor is it likely that she'll fall on her sword and resign, thereby going in disgrace and admitting blame.

For a long time, Obama's decision to put Hillary Clinton at State was hailed as a master stroke.  Now -- like so much else about Obama -- it's not so clear that it was as great as we were told it was.  About this time, Obama would probably prefer to have a Secretary of State he could fire without enormous political blowback.
