The Irony About The DOJ Lawsuit Filed By Disgraced Ex-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe

This has been an ongoing saga on the Hill. The Department of Justice moving slower than a tortoise concerning the disclosure of documents centering on the Russian investigation; documents that were requested by Hill staffers from lawmakers looking into the allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin to tilt the 2016 election. And there’s more on the docket concerning release of requested documents that goes beyond alleged Russian collusion—believe me.

So far, after over a year of investigating, there’s still zero evidence that the Russians colluded with the Trump team, though it’s a favored crutch for liberals to lean on to explain why their gal, Hillary, just didn’t have the skills, agenda, or political acumen to win. Did she have experience? Yes, but she was not what the country wanted—and that includes millions of Democrats. A lot of them voted for Bernie Sanders, her left wing primary challenger from Vermont, in the primaries, with scores also siding with Trump in the general election. But back to the drama within the DOJ, it would seem former Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, has filed a lawsuit against his former employers because they’re not…turning over documents he requested about his firing. It comes right before an inspector general report on how he and his former boss, James Comey, conducted themselves during the 2016 election, specifically during the Clinton email investigation. That’s going to released today, folks (via Associated Press):

The Justice Department has repeatedly refused to provide former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe with documents related to his firing, according to a lawsuit filed on his behalf Tuesday.

The complaint says the Justice Department has publicly defended the firing yet failed to identify for McCabe the policies and procedures it followed before dismissing him. The department has withheld the information, McCabe’s lawyers allege, for fear that the materials could be used against them in any additional lawsuits.

“We don’t create or adjudicate under secret law or procedure,” David Snyder, one of McCabe’s lawyers, said in an email to The Associated Press.

The case pits the career law enforcement official against a Justice Department that employed him for more than two decades. It refocuses attention on a firing last March that divided current and former Justice Department officials. And it signals that McCabe, repeatedly targeted for criticism and attacks by President Donald Trump in the last year, is determined to try to clear his name in court even as he faces a possible criminal probe into whether he intentionally misled internal investigators.

The lawsuit in federal court in Washington also comes just days ahead of a Justice Department inspector general report expected to criticize senior FBI officials, including McCabe, for their actions during the Hillary Clinton email investigation.

What’s ironic here is that the DOJ, a department in which McCabe used to be a key player, is stonewalling him on document disclosures. I’m sure many GOP lawmakers can relate to this frustrating experience. McCabe is at the center of the storm of controversy that has engulfed the FBI, specifically did the bureau used shoddy information to obtain a spy warrant on Carter Page, Trump’s former campaign foreign policy adviser. That information is the infamous Trump Dossier, which remains largely unverified. It’s also campaign opposition research collected by Fusion GPS, a research firm, and subsidized by…Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. They hired former MI6 operative Christopher Steele to obtain the information, which could be loaded with lies. Campaign opposition research is alleged to have been the focal point to obtain a spy warrant against an American. That’s insane.

That dossier is also alleged to be the “insurance policy"against Trump. In an August 15, 2016 text between FBI agent Peter Strzok and bureau attorney Lisa Page, the two were having an extramarital affair; they mentioned a meeting with McCabe where this came up. The number of texts between the two soared into the tens of thousands, all of them pretty anti-Trump. Strzok was a top counterintelligence agent who signed off on the counterintelligence probe into possible Russian collusion in July of 2016. He was also involved in the Hillary email probe, in which the two lovebirds wondered if the bureau was going too hard on Mrs. Clinton. You can see where the controversy rests with this story.

When these texts were made known to the public, Special Counsel Robert Muller, who had taken over DOJ’s investigation, removed him from it in August of 2017. He was transferred to human resources. Page recently resigned from the FBI. Congress requested one of the documents, a two-page brief, that supposedly set off the whole probe. Congress finally got it when House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) threatened to impeach FBI Director Chris Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

McCabe was fired for misleading investigators and lying to them on at least three separate occasions over an improper media disclosure that found its way onto the pages of The Wall Street Journal, who reported in October of 2016, that the FBI and DOJ were at odds concerning the probe into the Clinton Foundation. McCabe has already been taken to the woodshed over how he conducted himself with this leak investigation. His firing was the recommendation of the Office of Professional Responsibility, the FBI’s internal affairs crew.

And now that he’s fired, he wants to know why. Well, the DOJ isn’t cooperating, just like they’re not complying with a subpoena to turn over 1.2 million pages in documents relating to alleged FISA abuses, Hillary Clinton's unauthorized and unsecure email server, and…the firing of Andrew McCabe
