Upset over YouTube supposedly censoring and discriminating against her B-quality content, Nasim Najafi Aghdam decided to shoot three people at the video-sharing company’s headquarters. Her family informed police about her ire towards the company when she was found by police not too far from YouTube’s campus; her family didn’t know her whereabouts for a week prior to the shooting. When police found her, they told Aghdam’s father that they would keep an eye on her. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. Aghdam’s brother also warned police that he thought his sister might be up to something sinister.
San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini told the press today in the brief conference that the suspect’s car is secure. They’re investigating the motive and going through her social media posts, but it seems to stem from anger towards YouTube.
During the shooting, a witness interviewed by KTVU told reporters in the aftermath of the attack that you “have to be smart. You gotta be fast, you gotta think fast—be smart. I didn't have a gun on me, but I wish I did."
And that’s a perfectly reasonable reaction. Self-defense is not a bad thing. Still, the Left immediately went into attack mode, trying to pin this tragedy on the NRA. Nasim was a member of Peta and a vegan. No way she was a member. Also, California has gun laws that are the antithesis of the NRA’s agenda. And there was stilla mass shooting, undercutting this fairy tale logic by anti-gunners that more gun control laws will stop mass shootings.
While it’s mocked, a good guy with a gun is society’s best defense. A woman held burglars at gunpointuntil police arrived in Indiana. In 2013, a school resource officer prevented further loss of lifeat Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado. A school resource officer also stopped the shooter at Great Mills High School in Maryland.
A black spot in the history of these incidents was Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where the deputy utterly failed to confront the shooter, apparently lied about where the shots were coming from, and sat outside of the building. It took eleven minutes before authorities to enter the building. The footage of the idle deputy made Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel sick to his stomach. The deputy, Scot Peterson, resigned rather than remain on unpaid leave. This is not a good guy, folks.
