Suspicious Letters Arrive At Georgia Republican Candidate's Home, Powdery Substance Inside

With days before the Georgia special congressional election, the most expensive in history, suspicious letters with a powdery substance inside were sent to the neighbors of Republican candidate Karen Handel. Ms. Handel has also received these letters. Police are on the scene.

Via WSB-TV2:

Authorities were called to the neighborhood where Karen Handel lives in Roswell for the report of a suspicious package Thursday afternoon.
Police say Roxburg Drive off Old Alabama Road in the Country Club of Roswell is shut down while crews investigate.
Police say the FBI has joined the investigation and at least five homes in the neighborhood have received an envelope with a "white powdery substance" in it.

Ms. Handel released a statement on the matter:

This afternoon we had some suspicious packages delivered to our house and to our neighbors. The packages contained threatening letters and a suspicious substance. The police were quickly notified and street is now being blocked off. We will continue to coordinate with law enforcement as necessary.”

The letter, which called Ms. Handel the c-word and a fascist, also told the recipients to “take a whiff of the power and join her in the hospital…resist the fascist takeover. Strong up the collaborators.” This is a heavily edited version. You can read the full the letter, which is much more explicit in its language, on The Washington Free Beacon.
