Boycotts of Ivanka Trump’s clothing line have backfired, as the company reported record sales numbers.
“Since the beginning of February, they were some of the best performing weeks in the history of the brand,” Abigail Klem, the president of the Ivanka Trump fashion company, told Refinery29 in an interview. “For several different retailers Ivanka Trump was a top performer online, and in some of the categories it was the [brand’s] best performance ever.”
The news comes after Nordstrom announced it would no longer carry her line in their stores, citing poor sales. Other retailers like Jet, Belk, Neiman Marcus, and ShopStyle quickly followed suit, while employees of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls were told to throw away signs advertising the brand.
But rather than doing damage to Ivanka's brand, which the first daughter took a formal leave of absence from in January after her father became president, sales have been through the roof.
According to Lyst, an e-commerce aggregator, Ivanka Trump sales increased 346 percent from January to February, Refinery29 writes.
So, by all means, let the leftists boycott all they want. While several companies may have severed ties with Ivanka Trump’s fashion line, the brand itself is laughing its way to the bank.
