Before being told his fate by a federal judge in New York City Wednesday, Cohen said he takes "full responsibility” for his crimes, which includes a series of campaign finance violations, tax evasion and lying to Congress. He is required to pay a number of fines and will report to prison in March, giving him time to get his affairs in order.

Cohen also repeatedly went after President Trump in his statement as said he worked to "cover up his dirty deeds."

"Blind loyalty to Trump led me to take a path of darkness instead of light," Cohen said.

He apologized to his entire family, who was in the court room, for his actions.

Cohen pleaded guilty to a series of crimes in August. In November, he pleaded guilty to lying to Congress after being referred for prosecution by members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. He told prosecutors that as a candidate, Donald Trump directed him to violate the law by paying off two women alleging affairs.
