First we'll start with Kris Jenner, whose family is on the hit E! Entertainment show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The Kardashian clan also owns a host of businesses and often engages in new entrepreneurial projects. Jenner recently launched her own daytime talk show and used the new platform to respond to comments made by President Obama criticizing the lavish lifestyle of her daughter, Kim Kardashian.
Recently during a speech at Georgetown University, rockstar and Africa advocate Bono, embraced capitalism as a way to lift people around the world out of poverty, not foreign aid.
So some of Africa is rising and some of Africa is stuck. It’s a question of if the rising bit will pull the rest of Africa up or whether the other Africa will weigh the continent down. Which will it be? Rock star preaches capitalism. Wow. Sometimes I hear myself and I just can’t believe it. But commerce is real. That’s what you’re about here. It’s real. Aid is just a stopgap. Commerce, entrepreneur capitalism takes more people out of poverty than aid. Of course we know that.
I believe that opportunity looks a lot like hard work. I've never had a job in my life that I was better than. I was always just lucky to have a job. And every job I had was a steppingstone to my next job, and I never quit my job until I had my next job. And so opportunities look a lot like work.
All three of these messages are a nice change from the normal liberal talking points coming out of Tinseltown. The truth is, without the America free market system, Jenner, Bono and Kutcher would not exist in the capacity they do now. America is the only place in the world where anybody can become whatever they want to be through hard work and dedication.
