'Great Wall' Movie Star Matt Damon: I Don't Believe in Walls

The actor who plays the main character in the newly released mega-budget film "The Great Wall" told People magazine that walls have no place in the modern world.

“I’m not a believer in walls,” Matt Damon said in the interview promoting his $150 million movie.

“I believe that history belongs to the cooperators and nor am I of a mind that Mexico is going to pay for our infrastructure anymore than we’re going to pay for their highways, you know what I mean?” he added. “We’ve got to watch, but hopefully the people of Mexico understand that the people of our country, the majority of them don’t believe that we should be putting any walls up.”

The Hollywood figure, who stared in the violent "Jason Bourne" series, also has an issue with the right to bear arms.

While speaking at a press conference in Australia, Damon said he wished the United States would adopt a more strenuous gun confiscation programs.

“You guys did it here in one fell swoop [in 1996] and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly,” he said.
