Hampshire College No Longer Flying American Flag--Or Any Flag

After Donald Trump won the presidential election on Tuesday, Hampshire College angered many people when they lowered the American flag on campus to half staff. Later, someone on campus burnt the American flag on Veteran's Day. Now, the college has simply decided to remove all flags--American or any others--for the time being.

Hampshire College is a small liberal arts school with 1,410 students in Amherst, MA.

Hampshire College President Jonathan Lash published a statement on Facebook outlining the school's decision to remove flags from the campus flagpole:

Students are still free to fly whichever flag they wish, but none will be from the campus flagpole.

There is "no timeline" on when the American flag will return.

People were less-than-thrilled about the school's decision:

Yowza. Talk about an incredible overreaction to an election result. America is still America, and the flag is still the flag, regardless of who is president.
