Eric Fanning, Acting Secretary of the Army, has joined Twitter. He also came Clean to the fact that he's a Fearless fan of Taylor Swift.
Fanning's tweet, directed at Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, poked a bit of Innocent fun (at least, I don't think he meant to be Mean) at the Navy as the two branches' service academies prepare to play each other in football this Saturday. Let's just say that there isn't much of a Love Story between the two schools, who first played each other in 1890.
While the account isn't yet verified, it's apparently real.
While some have criticized Fanning for his use of Taylor Swift lyrics, I think everyone should take a step back, Breathe, and appreciate the humor. After all, his second tweet--a retweet from the official U.S. Army account--was a bit more in line with his job and certainly much more serious.
Despite the somewhat cocky attitude from Fanning, the history of the Army-Navy game has been quite Treacherous in recent years for the Army. The Last Time the U.S. Military Academy defeated the Naval Academy was in 2001.
