MEXICO CITY (AP) — Prosecutors in the northern Mexico border state of Sonora say they have captured nine people for allegedly offering drugs to minors via Facebook and messaging apps.

The state detectives' agency says eight men aged 20 to 23 were arrested, as well as a 14-year-old.

The agency said Sunday the suspects had been caught in raids in Hermosillo, the state capital.

It said the gang sold marijuana and meth to youths, with messages advertising certain drugs and prices. Potential buyers were asked to send messages back, apparently to set up deals and meeting places.

On Monday, federal authorities announced that Jose Maria Guizar Valencia, the alleged leader of the Zetas drug cartel arrested last week, had been served with an extradition request on U.S. conspiracy and money-laundering indictments.
