TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — The Associated Press has withdrawn a story transmitted Thursday about Libya's U.N.-brokered unity government threatening to send the names of 17 of the country's rival politicians, militia leaders and religious figures to the international police organization Interpol and the U.N. Security Council. The story must be removed from all systems and platforms.

The source of the information was false. A web page purporting to be that of a government security committee is unofficial, and is not the government's official website, said Jalal Othman, a top media official with the UN-backed government.
