BERLIN (AP) — A German court has convicted a teenager and his father of murder over the revenge killing of a man who they believed had raped another family member.
The son — who was 17 at the time of the killing in June 2014 — admitted ambushing the 27-year-old victim along with his father and killing him. The victim, who was suspected of having raped the boy's sister, died of multiple stab wounds.
The Freiburg state court in southwestern Germany on Monday sentenced the father, aged 48 and identified only as Moustapha Y. in line with German privacy rules, to life in prison. The son, Akram Y., was tried as a juvenile and given an eight-year sentence.
Two accomplices were convicted of bodily injury resulting in death.
