MOSCOW (AP) — The Russian defense ministry says a strategic bomber on a training flight has crashed in the Far East, and rescuers are still looking for the crew of seven who parachuted out.

The ministry said Monday that the Tu-95MS bomber, which did not carry any missiles, crashed 80 kilometers outside the city of Khabarovsk due to an unspecified technical malfunction. All those on board bailed out, but the military has not established contact with them yet.

The ministry said it has suspended all flights of Tu-95MS bombers pending investigation.

This is the sixth accident involving a Russian military aircraft this summer. In a previous accident, both pilots were killed when an Su-26 bomber crashed, also in the Far East.
