LONDON (AP) — A convicted serial rapist has been found guilty of raping and murdering two teenage girls in Scotland's capital Edinburgh 37 years ago.
Angus Sinclair, 69, was convicted Thursday of the rape and murder of Christine Eadie and Helen Scott, both 17. The girls' bodies were found bound and strangled in the countryside in October 1977 after they went out for a drink with Sinclair at an Edinburgh pub.
Sinclair was the first person in Scotland to be prosecuted under changes to its double jeopardy law, which meant he could be retried for the two murders after a court case against him collapsed in 2007.
Sinclair had been in jail for more than 30 years over a string of convictions for rape and murder.
