ASUNCION, Paraguay (AP) — Paraguayan authorities say they have expelled the father of Ecuador's vice president because he is wanted in his home country on charges of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

The director of Interpol's Paraguay office, Fabio Sanabria, said Jorge Glas Viejo was put on a plane to Ecuador Tuesday night after he was detained in the capital of Asuncion for immigration violation.

Glas Viejo, 71, is charged with abusing the 13-year-old daughter of an employee at the school where he was director. The girl gave birth to a child in 2011.

He is the father of Vice President Jorge Glas Espinel.

Sanabria said Glas Viejo had entered Paraguay on a German passport. He was technically expelled rather than extradited because the two countries do not have an extradition treaty.
