LONDON (AP) — British prosecutors have charged a 19-year-old soldier with terrorism and explosives offenses.
Rifleman Ryan McGee, from 5th Battalion the Rifles, was detained at an army base in Germany late last year after a suspicious device was found at a U.K. address in November.
Prosecutors said Wednesday that McGee allegedly had a copy of the "Anarchist Cookbook" — which it described as "a document or record for terrorist purposes" — and that he allegedly had made an improvised explosive device. He will appear at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court on April 2.
The defense ministry said it was aware of the charges and has assisted police with their investigation.
