LONDON (AP) — Two versions of Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" are going on display side-by-side in London.

One is owned by Britain's National Gallery, the other by Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum, which has loaned its painting to London for an exhibition.

The Dutch artist's depictions of the bright yellow flowers, painted in the south of France in 1888, are among his most popular works.

The two versions on show in London were displayed together in Amsterdam last year. Three others exist, in Tokyo, Munich and Philadelphia.

National Gallery director Nicholas Penny said Friday that the exhibition would "help those for whom the paintings by Van Gogh are compelling images to understand how they were made — and made again — and out of what materials."

The exhibition runs from Saturday to April 27.
