LONDON (AP) — An anti-racism group is appealing to the British government to stop two American campaigners from entering the country to speak at a far-right rally.
Hope Not Hate wrote to Home Secretary Theresa May urging her to keep Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer from entering the U.K. to speak at an English Defense League rally Saturday.
Geller and Spencer are best known in the U.S. for their work for the organization Stop the Islamization of America which opposed the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero in New York.
Hope Not Hate said Wednesday Geller and Spencer are coming to the U.K. to incite hatred at a time of heightened tensions.
The English Defense League says Hope Not Hate's claims are a "parcel of lies and deceit".
