SURABAYA, Indonesia (AP) — A Sumatran tiger has died at Indonesia's problem-plagued largest zoo.

Zoo spokesman Anthan Warsito says Rozek, a 13-year-old male tiger, was found dead Thursday in his cage at the zoo in Surabaya, Indonesia's second-largest city and the provincial capital of East Java.

Warsito said Friday that an autopsy found that the tiger, suffering from respiratory and digestive problems for about two years, died of complications also linked to hepatitis and pneumonia.

The death left the Surabaya Zoo with 11 Sumatran tigers, the world's most critically endangered tiger subspecies.

Last year, a giraffe died there with a beachball-sized wad of plastic in its belly. The facility has long been plagued with problems including premature deaths, uncontrolled breeding and a lack of funding.
