Swiss wrestler was victim in workplace shooting

BERLIN (AP) — Swiss police say one of the people killed in a shooting at a wood-processing company was a well-known athlete in a traditional Swiss sport.

Lucerne police spokesman Urs Wigger said Thursday that 26-year-old Benno Studer was one of two people killed Wednesday by an assailant in a shooting that wounded seven others.

Studer was a wrestler in the traditional sport of Schwingen, also known as Swiss wrestling — considered one of the country's national sports.

The shooter, identified as a 42-year-old Swiss man, also died in the attack, but Wigger said he could not confirm media reports that he killed himself.
