JERUSALEM (AP) — The military says a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit the roof of a house in southern Israel, causing damage but no injuries.
Another rocket from the Hamas-run Palestinian territory struck an open area elsewhere in southern Israel. Media reported that schools in two cities were closed Sunday as a result.
Pini Azoulay, the man whose home was struck early Sunday, told Army Radio he took cover after an alarm siren went off overnight.
The military says more than 10 rockets have hit southern Israel since the beginning of the month and more than 455 since the beginning of the year.
Rocket fire from Gaza has diminished but not halted since Israel launched a bruising war in Gaza 3 ½ years ago to stop near-daily attacks.
