NKorea gets rights to broadcast London Olympics

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Asia's broadcasting union has agreed to provide North Korea with TV and radio coverage of the London Olympics.

South Korean state broadcaster KBS said Thursday that its president Kim In-kyu settled the agreement this week in Pyongyang. Kim heads the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union based in Malaysia.

KBS said in a statement that North Korea has already sent six TV production workers to London. It did not say how much North Korea agreed to pay for the coverage.

Three South Korean TV networks holding Olympic broadcasting rights for the Koreas have entrusted ABU to handle North Korean broadcasting issues.

The opening ceremony for the Olympics is Friday.
