Dutch lawmaker quits, criticizes far-right party

A member of Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders' Freedom Party says he is quitting the party, calling it undemocratic and criticizing its recently launched website that solicits complaints about eastern Europeans.

Hero Brinkman's decision to quit is the most serious public sign of dissent from within the ranks of Wilders' far-right party, which is the third biggest bloc in parliament with 24 of the 150 lower house seats.

Wilders's party also props up Prime Minister Mark Rutte's minority government, voting with Rutte on key issues to give it a one-seat majority in parliament.

Brinkman said Tuesday he would continue to support the government as a one-man bloc in parliament.
