Bosnian authorities have deported an Algerian who fought for Muslims during the 1992-95 Bosnian war but was later declared as a threat to national security.
Bosnia's Ministry for Security said Tuesday that Noureddine Gaci was deported to his native country but did not elaborate on the reasons for declaring him a threat.
Its statement said Gaci took part in the fighting during the war and afterward left for Italy from where he was deported to Algeria in 2007.
He illegally returned to Bosnia where he was arrested in 2010 and placed into an immigration center because he had appealed a deportation. On Tuesday, Gaci was deported after he lost the case.
Many foreign fighters came to Bosnia during the war but some later turned into security threats.
