A man has been shot to death in the courtyard of an elementary school in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez. It's an unusual event even for a city where children have enormous exposure to violence.
Prosecutors' spokesman Arturo Sandoval says gunmen wounded the man outside the school. Then when the victim ran onto the campus trying to escape, the attackers followed him and finished him off.
Children were in class at the time of Thursday's killing. Murders in Ciudad Juarez have sometimes happened outside schools, but seldom inside.
Children in Ciudad Juarez are given training on what to do when gunfire break out. Some youngsters have required psychological counseling because of the city's drug-fueled violence.
