A judge in Puerto Rico has ordered a trial for a man accused of hitting his girlfriend with a car and causing injuries that required the amputation of both her legs.
Defendant Jorge Ramos Rodriguez is scheduled to go on trial March 5 on a charge of aggravated assault. He did not enter a plea during Tuesday's hearing.
Police say the 22-year-old was arguing with 19-year-old Francheska Duarte Jimenez on Dec. 19 when he hit her with his SUV and pinned her against another car. Authorities say Ramos fled but was later arrested.
