A Colombian court has absolved a retired general of complicity in the forced disappearance of a rebel who took part in the seizure of Colombia's Palace of Justice 25 years ago.
Attorney Jorge Molano represents victims of the army's storming of the building and says he will appeal Friday's acquittal of Gen. Ivan Ramirez. The case was emblematic of army human rights abuses at the time.
The 67-year-old Ramirez has been held at a military barracks since 2008, but can now go free on bail.
Prosecutors say soldiers under Ramirez's command escorted cafeteria workers and at least one captured rebel out of the building after the siege.
At least 100 people were killed in the military attack and the 11 captives vanished.
