Emergency officials say at least seven people are dead after an explosion in an auto parts market in a central Nigerian city.
A spokesman for Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaib, said the dead included a three-year-old child. Officials say the explosion happened Wednesday morning in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna state.
Kaduna state police commissioner Bala Nasarawa said investigators are looking at the cause of the blast, which occurred near cylinders of natural gas.
Kaduna, on Nigeria's dividing line between its largely Christian south and Muslim north, was at the heart of postelection violence in April.
