The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 has struck near to the port city of Antofagasta in northern Chile.
The quake occurred at 4:13 a.m. local time and was centered 13 miles (22 kilometers) north-northeast of Antofagasta. Its depth was measured at 17 miles (27.3 kilometers).
There was no immediate information on damage or injuries.
An 8.8-magnitude quake and tsunami in central Chile in February 2010 killed more than 500 people.
