Palestinian FM arrives in Bosnia to lobby

The Palestinian foreign minister met Bosnia's presidency on Friday to lobby for Palestinian statehood, while his Israeli counterpart lobbied against the bid in a Bosnian Serb stronghold.

Riad Malki met the three-member presidency in Sarajevo, as Avigdor Lieberman met Serbs in Banja Luka.

The Palestinian application for U.N. membership is expected to be dealt with by Security Council ambassadors in the next few weeks.

Bosnia _ a non-permanent member of the Security Council _ and its three leaders are currently split over the issue.

The Muslim Bosniak leader supports the Palestinian bid, the Serb member is pro-Israeli and the Croat member has not yet not clearly stated his position.

Each of the three have to support a decision in order for Bosnia to vote, otherwise it will have to abstain.
