Family of slain Belfast lawyer condemns UK premier

The family at the center of one of Northern Ireland's most bitterly disputed killings has accused British Prime Minister David Cameron of deceiving and humiliating them.

The widow and two sons of slain Belfast lawyer Patrick Finucane say Cameron reneged on a promise to hold a public fact-finding inquiry into the 1989 killing.

Protestant extremists killed Finucane in front of his family because he represented Irish Republican Army clients. Britain admits police and British soldiers aided the attack.

The Finucanes told a Belfast news conference Friday they had expected Cameron to authorize an inquiry this week when he invited them to his Downing Street residence.

Cameron instead appointed a top lawyer to examine existing evidence files and publish a report.
