Buckingham Palace says a cold has forced Queen Elizabeth II to cancel a visit to the British museum in London.
The 85-year-old monarch was set to tour the museum's Australia Landscape exhibit ahead of her trip down under next week.
The palace said Wednesday the queen "has a long trip next week and then a a busy overseas programme in Australia and will need to be fit" for her travels.
Her visit to the British Museum was scrapped because the monarch has a cold and part of her visit there was meant to take place outdoors, the palace added.
Queen Elizabeth is rarely ill and rarely cancels engagements.
Next week she and her husband are expected to arrive in Australia for an 11-day visit that will include a meeting of leaders of the Commonwealth nations.
