USVI police academy graduate accused of assault

A police academy graduate in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been arrested and charged with assaulting two police officers.

Authorities say Henry Mason assaulted the officers when they responded to a 911 call that Mason's girlfriend made late Thursday after an argument. Police initially identified him as Egbert Henry.

Police say Mason also repeatedly kicked the door of a patrol car while being taken to the police station.

They say he graduated from the police academy in June and is a probationary officer in St. Croix. He has been put on administrative leave without pay.
