The mayor of a northern Mexican city says he will remain in office despite his political party's request that he step down during a casino corruption probe involving his brother.
Monterrey Mayor Fernando Larrazabal says videotapes showing his brother Jonah taking wads of cash in a casino days before an arson attack killed 52 people in another gaming hall were leaked to discredit him for cracking down on casinos.
Jonah Larrazabal has said he was selling cheese.
The mayor announced his decision Saturday after consulting with his cabinet, business leaders and constituents.
Mexico's ruling National Action Party asked Larrazabal to leave his post during the casino investigation.
