Berlin prosecutors say two men suspected of obtaining chemicals to make a bomb are being brought before a judge to determine if there is enough evidence to keep them in custody.
Spokesman Martin Steltner said Hani N., a 28-year-old stateless Palestinian and Samir M., a 24-year-old German of Lebanese origin, will appear in court later Friday for a hearing.
The two, whose last names were not released in accordance with German privacy laws, were detained Thursday on suspicion that they were obtaining ingredients for a bomb.
They're being investigated under suspicion they were planning a "violent criminal act," and had been under observation for months.
Though the two were taken into custody only days before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, authorities say there is no connection.
