A hospital in Poland says the son of former President Lech Walesa is improving significantly following a motorcycle accident.
A military hospital in Warsaw said Sunday that Jaroslaw Walesa will undergo surgery in the coming days on bones that were damaged in the accident. Walesa is on a respirator and in an induced coma, but his condition is stable and improving.
The 34-year-old Walesa has already undergone surgery on his spine. Walesa sustained injuries to his spine, pelvis and shoulders Friday when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Stropkowo in central Poland. He was airlifted to a hospital in Plock and then to Warsaw.
Doctors are hopeful Walesa will be able to walk again.
