Chinese state media are reporting an official in eastern China has been detained on accusations he killed a woman while driving drunk.
The official Xinhua News Agency reported on Sunday that Yin Xiangyu, a deputy director at a China Construction Bank branch in Anhui province hit a 73-year-old woman on her electric bicycle last week with his company car.
Police are investigating whether Yin fled the scene after the incident.
China has been cracking down recently on drunken driving.
Last year, the son of Li Gang, a police official, was accused of killing a woman while driving drunk. The incident fueled public outrage at abuses of power after reports emerged that he shouted "My father is Li Gang" after the accident trying to avoid responsibility.
