Brazilian officials say a streetcar popular with tourists has derailed in Rio de Janeiro and at least five people have died. More than 30 other people are injured.
Fire department official Ricardo Gomes tells the G1 news website that three people died at the scene and two died at a hospital.
It is not known if any foreigners are among the dead or injured.
Officials are investigating what caused the streetcar to come off its tracks in the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa.
In June, a French tourist plunged 50 feet to his death while riding the streetcar as it rumbled over the top of an aqueduct.
