China's Foreign Ministry says it will hold news conference every weekday starting from September.
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said that along with China's increasing interaction with the world, "the world's desire to understand China has become more pressing."
Although ministry spokespeople are rarely forthcoming, China has been trying to boost its interaction with foreign and domestic media. Many government bodies are holding more news conferences and posting transcripts online.
The Foreign Ministry previously held news conferences on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yang told a reception for reporters and the diplomatic corps Friday about the change.
