The Afghan Interior Ministry says a rocket that was fired into the heart of the Afghan capital did not cause any damage or casualties.
Ezatullah, an Afghan police officer who responded to the scene, told The Associated Press that the rocket landed early Wednesday morning inside the presidential palace compound.
Another police official in that district of the capital had also confirmed it landed within the perimeter of the spacious presidential palace compound. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information.
A U.S. military official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the rocket didn't strike the palace and no damage was reported.
The police are investigating.
