Liberia investigates 10,000 voting fraud cases

Liberia's election body says it has found more than 10,000 people who registered more than once to vote in upcoming elections.

An official from the National Elections Commission said Tuesday that the commission reported the matter to judicial officials. Presidential and legislative elections are slated for later this year.

Justice Ministry official Maude Somah says the ministry is investigating.

More than 25 candidates are preparing to challenge incumbent President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Liberia was ravaged by civil wars for years until 2003. The country is still struggling to maintain a fragile peace with the help of U.N. peacekeepers.
