The Indian Parliament has shut down just hours after opening its new session as opposition lawmakers caused a commotion shouting angry anti-corruption slogans.
A string of scandals has plagued both the ruling Congress party and main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.
The government faces allegations related to last year's Commonwealth Games and the 2008 awarding of cellular licenses, while the opposition is implicated in a multibillion-dollar bribery scandal involving mining contracts.
The session started Monday will resume Tuesday. It is expected to be stormy as the lawmakers struggle against the corruption allegations and discuss setting up an anti-corruption watchdog and regulating how land is acquired.
