Dutch airport police shot and wounded an assailant who threatened an officer with a knife outside the terminal building at the Eindhoven regional airport Friday, prosecutors said.
The attacker was identified only as a 30-year-old man carrying a Polish passport. He was taken to a hospital where his condition was reported to be not serious.
It appeared from gunshots heard on security camera footage that four or five shots were fired during the incident.
Prosecution spokeswoman Ellen Prummel said no further information could be released about the struggle at the airport or the assailant's motives until the investigation is complete.
