A local South African newspaper says that the country's youth league leader is funding a lavish lifestyle through private business dealings.
City Press reported Sunday that The African National Congress' Youth League firebrand Julius Malema has an alleged "secret fund" into which local businessmen are reported to have paid large sums of money in return for help winning government contracts.
Malema reportedly denied that he has taken bribes. He took a local newspaper to court last week in an attempt to prevent the publication of the article.
Malema's personal finances have come under public scrutiny in recent weeks, after he began remodelling his upmarket home, despite claiming to be "poor".
