OSLO (Reuters) - Norwegian police said they were focusing their investigation on whether a gunman acted alone or with others in a shooting and bombing that they said may have claimed up to 98 lives.
The gunman gave up without a fight with police after a massacre near Oslo that lasted almost 1.5 hours, acting police chief Sveinung Sponheim told a news conference.
"We don't know yet" if he acted alone, he said. He said that 85 people were known to have died in the shooting and seven in a bomb blast in Oslo. Taking account of a few missing people, he said the toll could reach 98 in the worst case.
