Days of rainfall leave 9 dead in South Korea

Emergency officials say nine people have been killed and one is missing because of torrential rains that have battered South Korea over the past several days.

The National Emergency Management Agency said in a statement Monday that most of the deaths were related to landslides triggered by heavy rains that have pounded the country since Friday.

It says the sustained rainfall has also damaged or flooded many houses and left more than 340 people homeless.
