The U.S. military says an American soldier died in southern Iraq in an incident that was not related to combat.
A statement issued Monday says the service member died Sunday but gives no other details.
Earlier, the military announced two other service members died Sunday. They were killed while conducting operations in northern Iraq.
Together, the deaths bring to 4,466 the number of American troops who have died in Iraq. That's according to an Associated Press count.
Twelve U.S. troops have died this month in Iraq. It's the highest number of military deaths since May 2009, and all but one were killed in combat.
