Eva Peron's jewelry recovered in Italy

Police in Milan have recovered jewelry said to have belonged to the late Argentine first lady Eva Peron that was stolen from a store in Spain nearly two years ago.

Italian Carabinieri, working with Spanish police, said Wednesday they found the diamond tiara, diamond earrings and rings worth euro6 million in a hotel room on the outskirts of Milan.

Police say the jewels were stolen from a shop in Valencia, Spain, in December 2009. One man was arrested over the theft last year in Milan.

The iconic Peron, known as Evita, died in 1952.
