Mexico detains 4 cops, 6 foreigners in kidnappings

Mexican prosecutors have detained four local policemen, five Guatemalans and one Honduran in connection with mass kidnappings of migrants in the border city of Reynosa.

The federal Attorney General's Office says the Central American suspects were among more than 130 people found over the last month at homes in Reynosa, across the border from McAllen, Texas.

The office said Friday that most of those found at the houses were kidnapped Central American or Mexican migrants being held for ransoms ranging from $500 to $4,500.

The captives later identified the six suspects and four Reynosa police officers as being among the kidnappers.

Reynosa is near the area where 72 migrants were slain last August.
